C. J. Cherryh

Carolyn Janice Cherry ("C. J. Cherryh") is a terrific SF writer, best known for her 'close third person' perspective, in which the reader only knows as much as the central protagonist. It's a very suitable approach for her imaginative SF, but the lack of clarity at times means the reader needs to pay good attention. Cherryh's books are not one's I can rush through, though I'm typically very satisfied with them in hindsight. She tends to have written her books in series, ranging from a number of trilogies in her earlier career, through to the (still onoing) Foreigner books, which are currently up to volume 21.
