E. C. Tubb's Dumarest Saga
Edwin Charles (E. C.) Tubb (1919-2010) wrote an awful lot of short and snappy pulp SF, but he's now often overlooked on an assumption that he was a less accomplished writer than was actually the case, perhaps. He wrote in a clear direct style, ideal for the SF magazine market, and he had many nice ideas and knew how to tell a compelling story. If you dip into the SF magazines of the 1960's especially (and particularly in British magazines) you'd be very likely to come across some of his work, which was popular and found a ready market. Michael Moorcock and other luminaries of the British SF scene were most complimentary about Tubb and his writing. In his longer fiction he is best known for the long SF novel series, The Dumarest Saga, which chronicled the long running story of Earl Dumarest, a space adventurer searching the galaxy for this lost home world, Earth.
